About Me

I grew up in a military family, a Navy family born on an U.S. Navy base in Morocco of all places in 1960. I guess you could say I am truly an African-American! But my racial background is Filipino and my nationality is American through and through.

I spent my early years following my Father's Navy career years bouncing from Navy base to Navy base until he retired in Fremont CA before going into 7th grade. I graduated high school from American High School in Fremont in 1978, #2 in my class and earned an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy. Graduated from there in 1982 and went back to the San Francisco bay area to fly satellites at the Air Force Satellite Control Facility in Sunnyvale, CA (now named Onizuka Air Force Station).

After four years there, changed stations to Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton OH where I finished up my Air Force career seeking greener pastures in the corporate world as a defense contractor consultant with two companies over about 7 years. After a short three year stint as an executive recruiter, became a life insurance General Agent building an national agency to $23 million a year.

Okay, I had to give you the work resume because that is how people generally judge each other. So that is a very shallow glimpse of who I am.

I am a servant of Christ who has saved me from my sins through His suffering and dying on the cross, and then rising from the dead to conquer eternal death from the deceiver to give me the chance at everlasting life. My life experience has been one of chasing the world first and then realizing my happiness was in chasing Christ and God's will for me.

My other mission in life is to be the best husband to my wife Ginny and the best father to my five children, Zoe, Athan, Maddie, Nick and Izzie. God has truly blessed me with the gift of my family from whom I learn how much I must rely on the Lord's strength to be the best I can be for them.

My ministry started in music through my praise and worship band, The Nearer to God Band (www.n2Gb.com). And I continue that ministry as God wills it. A secondary ministry is one of raising money to support orphan children in my parent's birth land, the Philippines (www.AlexAbuyuan.org).

This ministry as a Christian Life Coach continues my service to the Master.
